If you use Grand View Hospital, check its status under your 2027 Medicare Advantage plan before choosing coverage for next year. According to a recent Jefferson Health Plans provider network update, Grand View Hospital, now part of St. Luke’s University Health Network, will no longer participate in the Jefferson Health Plans Medicare Advantage network effective January 1, 2027.
There is reassuring news, too: Chestnut Hill Hospital, part of Temple Health, remains in network for Jefferson Health Plans Medicare Advantage plans. Temple Health has also announced its agreement with Jefferson Health Plans to continue participation.
Why this update matters during Medicare Annual Enrollment
Medicare Annual Enrollment runs October 15 through December 7. During this period, you can review your Medicare coverage and make changes for the coming year. The 2027 plan year begins January 1, 2027, the same date the Grand View network change is scheduled to take effect.
That makes the hospital update directly relevant if you are comparing Medicare Advantage plans now. A plan that worked for you this year may have a different provider network next year (the list of doctors, hospitals, and other providers that participate in the plan).
The key question is not only, “Does my plan include a hospital I recognize?” It is also, “Will the doctors who care for me be in network under the specific 2027 plan I’m considering?” The answers can vary by plan, so check the details rather than relying on last year’s information.

What the update says about the network
The Jefferson Health Plans update describes a broad Medicare Advantage network that includes more than 23,000 participating providers, 10,000+ ancillary providers, and 130+ hospitals. Ancillary providers are professionals and services that support care beyond a hospital or doctor’s office.
The update also describes a network of in-network hospitals and health systems across the region. These network-wide figures provide helpful context, but they do not tell you whether a particular doctor or hospital participates in your specific 2027 plan. You’ll still need to check your plan’s current provider directory or contact Jefferson Health Plans directly.
A large network can offer many choices while an individual facility’s status changes. Both things can be true at once: the network may remain broad overall, while Grand View’s participation changes for the plans described in the update.
If you use Grand View Hospital, take these steps now
If Grand View is your preferred hospital, where you receive ongoing care, or where your physicians admit patients, use Annual Enrollment to confirm what the change means for you. Start with these steps:
- Check the 2027 status of your doctors. Ask each physician’s office whether the doctor will participate in your particular Jefferson Health Plans Medicare Advantage plan for 2027. Confirm the doctor’s status with the plan, too.
- Ask where your doctors admit patients. A physician’s office may be in network even when a hospital where that physician practices is not, or the reverse. Ask which hospitals your doctors use and verify those facilities separately.
- Review the 2027 provider directory. Jefferson Health Plans’ Medicare resources direct members to current provider information. If you cannot find a clear answer online, call the member services number listed on your plan ID card or in your plan documents.
- Ask about your options. Contact Jefferson Health Plans and ask what the Grand View change means for your specific plan and care. Do not assume that another hospital, physician, or plan will be covered without confirmation.
- Compare plans before December 7. If access to Grand View or your doctors is important to you, include network access alongside benefits and costs as you review your 2027 choices.
Keep a note of who you spoke with, when you called, and what they told you. If a provider’s office and the plan give you different answers, ask the plan to confirm the information in writing or direct you to the applicable section of the 2027 provider directory or plan documents.
What “in network” means, and why the distinction matters
A provider is “in network” when they participate in the network for your specific health plan. Plans set rules for how covered services are paid for, and costs or coverage may differ when you receive care outside the network. The exact result depends on your plan’s terms, so confirm those details with Jefferson Health Plans before you rely on them.
There is another important detail: a hospital and the individual physicians who practice there are not necessarily treated as one network entry. A hospital’s participation does not automatically confirm that every doctor who provides care there is in network. Likewise, your doctor’s network status does not by itself confirm the hospital’s status.
When checking coverage, name both the facility and the clinicians you want to see. Ask specifically about the 2027 plan you are considering, since a general answer about Jefferson Health Plans, or a different plan year, may not settle your question.

Chestnut Hill remains in network
For members who use Chestnut Hill Hospital, the update brings a different message: the hospital, part of Temple Health, remains in network for Jefferson Health Plans Medicare Advantage plans. Temple Health’s September 30, 2026 announcement says the hospital reached an agreement to continue participating in Jefferson Health Plans.
Even with that reassuring update, it is sensible to confirm the status of your own doctors and the specific plan you will have in 2027. Checking both the hospital and individual physicians can help you make a decision with a clearer understanding of your access to care.
