2017 ACA ” Obamacare” plans open enrollment important update. The annual open enrollment period opens on November 1st 2016 and ends January 31st 2017.
Independence Blue Cross will be the only insurer available in 2017 in the Philadelphia 5 County Area.
With the passing of the Affordable Care Act changes come annually or even more often. Unfortunately not all of those changes are benefiting the consumer. This year here are some major changes that our clients on Individual Non Medicare plans need to be aware of…
If you are a enrolled on an ACA compliant plan with Aetna or United Healthcare your plan is going away. Neither Aetna or United will be offering any individual health insurance plans in PA in 2017. That includes both on exchange plans and off exchange plans. You must enroll on a new plan during open enrollment period or you will have no coverage.
If you currently enrolled in a sole proprietor of licensed professional association plan, your plan is going away. You must enroll on a new plan during open enrollment period or you will have no coverage.
If you are enrolled on an IBC plan in 2017 through Total Benefit Solutions, either on exchange or off, we will help you renew your plan for 2017 but IBC will be the only carrier in the Philadelphia 5 County Area in PA in 2017.
As IBC is the only carrier offering coverage in the area, commissions to brokers have been almost entirely eliminated except in very few circumstances. Because of this development it is with much regret that we must announce that Total Benefit Solutions services will no longer be able to be offered at no additional cost to some customers.
In New Jersey, Health Republic and Oscar have left the market. Only Amerihealth and Horizon Blue Cross & Blue Shield will be offering plans in 2017. Again commissions to brokers have been almost entirely eliminated except in very few circumstances. Because of this development Total Benefit Solutions services will no longer be able to be offered at no additional cost to some New Jersey customers as well.
In general we will still be able to help the majority of our clients. We will know soon what the new plans, benefits and rates are but we do not have them yet. We are anticipating increases in premium in excess of 25%. We will post that information as soon as we have it available.
Now more than ever consumers need the services of a dedicated, impartial, insured, trained, certified and experienced professional. Shortly we will be introducing a fee schedule which we hope will be reasonable and provide significant value to our new and existing clients. Total Benefit Solutions is dedicated to providing that valuable service to all of our clients during the open enrollment period as well as year round. We work for YOUR Benefit, not your insurance carrier or a government agency.
