Yesterday, as part of a press conference held to address recent issues related to the Affordable Care Act, President Obama announced that some major medical customers — both individual and small group — may be allowed to keep their current 2013 plan for another year.

We are carefully evaluating the announcement and awaiting further guidance in determining how this may change the law’s requirements that all non-grandfathered individual medical and small group fully insured health plans must comply with certain benefit changes in 2014.

We understand that you probably have many questions right now. While we do not know all the answers, we do know that our efforts to work with federal and state regulators and insurance issuers will continue as we determine how any issuer implementing this approach impacts our clients, and we will help comply with any new requirements. Our ultimate objective is to continue to provide impartial and professional guidance to help our clients secure and maintain affordable and high-quality health insurance choices to all consumers.

As we learn more, we will continue to share important information with you and will also communicate with clients directly as appropriate.

Now more than ever, our role as your trusted advisor is key to helping our clients best navigate this new, and changing landscape. We appreciate having the opportunity to work with you.
